About 300 people showed up tonight despite the soccer match (at least we had a nice evening…).

Earthtone9
Openers Earthtone9 had 30 minutes to do their stuff and they did well. Their aggro-rock sounded much like Will Haven to me but that could also be a visual thing because singer Karl had the same amish looks (beard!!) like Gary Avenall had when I saw them opening for Fear Factory. Earthtone9`s music is very intense post-hardcore (?) but it seemed that most of the people came to see Pitchshifter so there was little crowd movement. Earthtone9 deserved better.

Pitchshifter
Pitshifter set to the stage at 10pm and got off at 11…WTF? Only one hour? Guess the guys were still tired from their boattrip to the continent, according to JS they had to get drunk on the ferry (so that`s why he was sweating that much). It could also have been due to the energetic performance. Although it was only one hour, it was one energy speedblast with mostly songs of their last 2 albums (www.pitchshifter.com and Deviant) including Genius, Un-United Kingdom (yeah Tilburg is not the UK!) Everything Fucks, Condescension, Dead Battery, Please Sir, Microwaved, Hidden Agenda and the best PSI-song WYSIWYG.

The "Kleine Zaal" was almost sold out so it was comfortable crowded and the people knew how to behave at a Pitchshifter concert especially when JS outed his disappoinment about the lack of stagedivers on this first European show. Apparently the crowd was waiting for this, guess they were just being polite because some bands don`t like to have stagedivers on stage and some tour promotors want crowdsurfing to happen. Good to see it`s still possible in such a small venue.
