Strange package today in the 013: emocore, thrash/death metal and extreme industrial grindcore. By far, most of the visitors came for only one band: The Berzerker. The opening acts only got a lukewarm reception.

December
"Hi, we`re December from Reno, Arizona". The words spoken by the not-so-metal-looking singer turned out to be the intro for a half-hour of emo/metalcore. Singer Mark tried to get the people more upfront, closer to the stage but with little success. The volume was quite loud but with a clean sound. Unlike a lot of other bands in this genre, December never got boring. Or maybe a half-hour is just right...

Corporation 187
The sympathetic metallers from Sweden also had the difficult task to play for an audience that apparently was waiting for something completely different. They looked (and sounded) like a friendly version of Dutch brutalo`s God Dethroned. Not in the least because singer Pelle is a Henry Sattler look-a-like!?!

Corporation 187 played a solid set with tracks of their latest album Perfection In Pain and their debut Subliminal Fear. Not bad at all, just the wrong time and place.

The Berzerker
During the stage building some strangely looking people walked on and off the stage. They had white corpse painted faces with black painted masks. They obviously didn’t wanted to be recognized. Is this what The Berzerker looks like off-stage?!? What happened to the monster masks? Damn! The decline always starts when bands take off their masks...

Luckily, things were back to normal as The Berzerker kicked off their show. Monster masks and everything else we hoped for. The samples and drum computer were all fired up just like the band on stage.

The Berzerker gave us the best of both their albums including songs like "Massacre", "Forever", "Reality, "Death Reveals", “Disregard” and “The Principles And Practices Of Embalming”. We were left with the fantastic "Corporal Jigsaw Quandary" (a Carcass original) but by then several people already had left the building. Pussies!

Nobody probably noticed it but the drummer of The Berzerker was a replacement for the original drummer who broke his foot just a couple of days before this tour started. The replacement filled in nicely and nobody could tell the difference because of the mask. The only negative remark I have to make is that the volume wasn`t loud enough, but then again I maybe too used to hearing The Berzerker at a deafening volume...
