The Gathering   Oosterpoort-Groningen   Dec 22, 2000

Keshri Consisting of a female singer and a male guitar player. It takes a lot of guts for the singer to go up on stage on her own for the first song. Even though she has a cold, her voice sounds great. Too bad the audience gives them a meager response, but of course, most people were there for The Gathering!

Not only did they play Souvenirs (one of my personal favourites) twice, but they also treated us to a fifteen-minute long version of Black Light District, at the end of which the whole crowd went quiet, and the ones that were still speaking were hushed with angry ‘sshh’s’ from the rest of the audience. It was a magical moment, and the band enjoyed it. They’ve said that apart from Holland nowhere people talk during a concert, and they hate it. So now they can be happy, because Nijmegen is the only town that does not blabber through their concerts! The whole concert was great; Anneke’s voice sounded really good, and the boys of the band were very excited as well. Long intro’s and outro’s made the whole thing mystical and trancy. There were two men in the front who almost fainted whenever Anneke looked at them, and one of them even cried during Black Light District. Of course, Anneke looked radiant, and could not stop smiling at the audience. Even though they have been on tour for months now, and will be going on for another few months, you could feel and see they were glad to be on stage. They even came back twice for an encore! And that is what we want to see!
