Mogwai   Melkweg-Amsterdam   May 29, 2003

Mogwai is….well, a band that does not hold on to the usual standards that bands use in the pop music. Mogwai is the exception for bands like Nickelback, Lifehouse and Train, who play safe music

In a live situation Mogwai is… intense… For an hour and a half they kept us in a trance, took us to a desert, let us taste the sand, but not for long. The next moment you are in a complete calm ocean, watching little waves go by… Mogwai live is dynamic, intense and emotional. It’s music as music was meant. With the heart at the right place and 100 percent dedication to the music.

After releasing a couple of albums and a few EP’s the band already managed to get into the premier league of rock bands worldwide. Tonight, they played a mix of all those albums, most of the songs from the new album Happy Songs For Happy People, but also a lot from Come On Die Young (their best album, in my honest opinion).

All good things end
It was a show were the music was the most important. Not an entertaining stage-act from the band members, but just the music. Something everyone expected, so no one was disappointed, everyone was just in … well, a higher atmosphere, a higher level. Almost an outer-space experience. Next time, be there.
