In the east of this little country called The Netherlands we have a reputation for metal concerts. In the 90’s people could attend almost every weekend a good show in venues like Metropool, Hedon, Lantaarn, Doornoosje and a bunch of others. I recall bands like Enslaved, Immortal, Vader, Cannibal Corpse, At the Gates, Napalm Death, Deranged, Vomitory, Deeds of Flesh and many many more playing these parts. Those were the times… But now, anno 2003, death/black metal shows in this area are as numerous as nipples on one female’s breast. Not much indeed. But tides are hopefully turning with organisations like the E.H.B.O., Metal Front Twente and Metal Front Zutphen, organising all kinds of shows again. It all began with a furious set from local heroes Deification (E.H.B.O.). This was a perfect warming-up round. Front man aka grunter Willem is the big man in this band and his vocal imitation of a grizzly bear is almost perfect. Their music however is of a lower level than the other two bands, but still they’ve got some classic songs like “Kill the concept of god” and “Beaten to pulp” (if I recall it correctly). Gorerotted
