WITHIN TEMPTATION I’ve got quite a few reactions on my last Within Temptation review saying that my review was too negative and that when I’m not 100% into the music of the band, I shouldn’t go to any of their shows. So this time I’m going to write a review for Within Temptation fans as well as for the more objective Bospop visitor. For the fans: Within Temptation gave an excellent show, Sharon was beautiful as ever caressing my ears with her angelic vocals and the music sounded excellent! This band was my highlight of this edition anniversary edition of Bospop. For the more critical and objective readers: When Within Temptation entered the main stage, all youngsters on the pitch had assembled for a one hour set full of visuals and Within Temptation favourites. The enthusiastic cheers when the band entered the stage once again proved just how popular this Dutch band has become during the last two or three years. The stage setting wasn’t far of the setting of indoor performances. Two statues flanking the band, the use of platforms on stage and of course the fireworks. The biggest difference between an indoor and an outdoor performance proved to be the preparation of the stage. At a festival you only get about thirty minutes to get everything right. And just this proved to be the bottleneck of today’s performance - that is for what the sound is concerned. Technical difficulties and a poor mix more than once resulted in a raw mixture of sounds that was occasionally not too pleasant to listen to. On a more positive note the visual side of the show was pretty impressing. The band seemed more relaxed than at the 013 gig, coping with technical problems with ease. As a conclusion I could state that a Within Temptation show is well worth watching, even for people that are not too impressed with their music. Coming to think of it: this actually defines the perfect Bospop act!
