Checking out new bands on a Friday night is pretty cool, you know that? And after seeing a lot of band for REZ and checking out a lot CD’s, I guess I can tell when a band has potential. Intero is a band with potential. The band has members from various local bands and they mix different styles of music in some sort of fusion metalcore music. It probably sounds a bit vague, but this is the best way to describe it. Drummer Armand and guitarist Tjeerd have gained a lot of experience playing with Dutch nu-metal band Mindless, bassist Jop plays with De Staat (formerly known as Puta) and vocalist Ralluf sang with Pinknoise (a well known Pink Floyd cover band) and also sings with Emperors Of The Black. In the biography on their website they state they wanted to form a kick ass metal band with some groove in it. After the show I can only say: they did it. It’s very cool to see how those different kind of musical influences are melted together and are molded in, well, the Intero-sound. Normally you’d expect brutal vocals (like Hatebreed, Madball, even In Flames), but Intero uses Ralluf’s voice very well. This guy can sing, but he can scream too. In stead of playing a lot of covers and a couple of own songs, Intero does the other way round. They play a lot of own songs and two covers (songs from Biohazard and Prong) and trust me, they do it well. The crowd responds really well at the songs and now and then there’s something that looks like a little moshpit. I’d like to end this review to warn you for this band. They really kick your ass when you see them live. They recently finished recording their first demo, so keep an eye out for their first, silver, little disc. Their next live show is the 23rd of April in Arnhem, so when you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to check them out! I`d like to thank Wout Reinders for the awesome pics! Some rehearsal recordings can be checked out at their MySpace Website (Review & Pics: Lars van Bergen) |
