I know most of you won`t expect a review of a Tracy Bonham solo gig on Rockezine (I’ll keep it short). Fact is however that this lady has made her marks in the rock scene by playing Pinkpop in 1998 as well as 2000. Bonham vividly brought back her memories of her performance, wearing a orange suit and pink hair. Nowadays Bonham travels Europe with just a violin, a guitar and her beautiful voice. I just can imagine the true romance in touring several countries with just the bare essentials. It was nice to see Bonham relaxing at the side of the stage while Amy Rigby played her set. This US lady needed a little time to get the attention of the crowd, but when she finally did, she convinced all with her powerful lyrics, her joy in performing and her wit. Bonham managed to capture the attention from the crowd from the minute she walked out on stage. I must admit that it was charming to see how she prepared for the show to come. She laid down some handkerchiefs and papers, probably to remember long forgotten lyrics of long forgotten songs and briefly tuned her guitar and violin. Then the first warm tones filled Doornroosje. It was obvious that Bonham felt comfortable on the rather large Doornroosje stage - for a single person that is. After each couple of songs the atmosphere got more relaxed. Bonham spiced up her performance with some funny stories and witty interaction with the crowd. Usually I’m not very fond of some improvisation, but Bonham masters it to smallest detail.
