Expulsion Almost every Saturday night there’s a show in the basement of Vera. Vera is a pop institute in Groningen (The Netherlands) that had a lot of big names on their stage in the past. Henry Rollins, Nirvana, U2 and a lot more great bands played here over the last 25 years. This evening it’s time for Expulsion to do their thing. Expulsion is a metalband from Groningen. Since they played their first gig a few months ago, a lot of people where talking about this band. In their short existence they already played with some big names in the metalscene. They played with Textures, Gorefest, Detonation and others. According to the band they make all incinerating speed trash metal. I just call it fast metal with influence from Slayer and some other 80 metal bands.
The venue was filled with people all heating up the basement of Vera. Expulsion started their intro, which was a little bit to long in my opinion. After the intro the band fired things up. The first thing that struck me were the fast played riffs. The guitar players were playing at high speed. I’ve got respect for the fast riffs they play. The same goes for the drummer. He’s was using his double bass all the time. A few months ago Expulsion released the MCD “The Mass Insanity”. They played all the songs from this very MCD and some new songs. Personally I was hoping that the band would play on eor two Slayer covers but unfortunately they didn`t. Expulsion played a nice show. And the reaction from the crowd was really overwhelming. I think the band made a lot of new fans this night.
