If there`s one band I`ve seen on stage a lot it`s definitely Nevermore. At first I would be dragged there by our former chief editor, but the more I got to see them, the more I’ve become to respect this band. And this show has only added to that respect. Why?

Great musicians, great compositions, moving lyrics and great performances. You immediately experience that these guys are eager to get their message through and stand for what they`re doing. What a bundle of energy in a perfect flow. They feel the songs, feel each other and feel the crowd. And what makes this band even better is that they`re not afraid to give each other the space to shine. The combination with Disturbed is not an obvious choice, but these professionals seem to have altered their set to serve this audience, especially the ones in the moshpit. Even though Nevermore was announced as special guest, the American band protocol was unquestionably applied: only the headliner gets a good sound mix

Music that`s so multi dimensional as Nevermore`s deserves better. The subtle guitar fiddles and riffs were so flat, that you couldn`t even hear them. But in spite of this, the band`s professionalism takes the upper hand. It`s like the sound disaster fires them up to put in even more energy. For a couple of stolen moments the sound is what it`s supposed to be and can they reflect what they really are. Their typical interaction with the audience extracts singer Warrel’s attention, as he can’t stop smiling and seems to have forgotten pieces of his lyrics. But the girls responsible for are not getting away with it.

What a Godforsaken shame that they only have 45 minutes to entertain.

I have to say that I was surprised that Disturbed was headliner. I mean: you have to have a lot to offer to equal a band like Nevermore. But suddenly it’s painfully clear that the two dimensional sound of the special guest is standard for the main act. In my opinion Disturbed was flat, straight up and down and lacked fantasy. Honestly, I`ve tried! One song is played with the same intension as the next. And the one accidental ballad lacked emotion because of the bad condition of the singers voice. In my journalistic integrity I had to give them a chance, but they didn`t take it by far. In whole my career I have left the venue with the band still on stage for 2 more times. One of em was with Manowar. Tonight I didn`t have the stomach to sit this one out.

Disturbed was nothing more than my state of mind seeing a perfectly good band making room on stage for a couple of bullies with 90 minutes of elementary school metal-like plain boring cliché’s. The fact that the venue was sold out proofs again that that says nothing about quality.
