Evergrey   Kade, de-Zaandam   Nov 10, 2006

On the third of November, Evergrey played in the Bosuil at Weert. Rockezine-reviewer Ralph was present at that gig. On the tenth of November, Evergrey came to the Kade at Zaandam, and Rockezine-reviewer Romana was there to attend the show. This review is a summary of both visits.

At the Kade there was an extra supporting band.

Awake
Romana:A pleasant surprise was the first support act; a progressive-like metal band called Awake. From the first to the last second they caught my attention. They only played a few tracks, which were all very different and pleasant to listen to. I hope we`ll hear more of this band soon!

Avatar
Ralph:The support band Avatar started at 21:00 hrs. The music didn’t fit the sound of Evergrey; their death metal was played musically rather well; the voices however were the weakest part of the show. The audience wasn’t very enthusiastic either. After 45 minutes Avatar left the stage and the stage was modified for Evergrey.

Romana: I can`t do more than agree with Ralph about the music; it simply didn`t fit with the sound of Evergrey. What I did like about this show was the energetic performance, it was clear that this band loves to perform and treat its audience with a real show.

Evergrey
Ralph: Upon hearing the first riffs it was obvious to me that the show would be one of the best performances of Evergrey I had witnessed. What a sound, what a mix and, above all, what a superb set-list; each album was represented, from Solitude • Dominance • Tragedy to Monday Morning Apocalypse. There were only highlights this evening; for me the most impressive songs were `The Essence of Conviction` (Inner Circle); `In Remembrance` (Monday Morning Apocalypse), `Solitude Within` (Solitude • Dominance • Tragedy); `Mark of the Triangle` (In Search of Truth) and `I´m Sorry` and `The Great Deceiver` (Recreation Day). When the band left the stage the audience was screaming for more; not without success! Fortunately the band entered the stage again and played a really superb encore, `A Touch Of Blessing` and `The Masterplan`.

This is SYMPHONIC METAL with capital letters. Finally I have seen and heard the real Evergrey. The audience got what they came for!! The audience, including myself, went home very satisfied.

Pictures will come later.
