It was just one of those days… Angels & Agony were cancelled due to personal problems, the microphone didn’t work well during NCOR and THE FAIR SEX had to overcome a power breakdown. That the train leaving Arnhem only had a five minute delay therefore was a blessing…

I didn’t know the first band that played (I’m not sure if it was TRAUMA, because the voice of Girls Under Glass was present, but…), but their electronic wave music was ok. Painfully enough, that would be tonight’s theme. There were mostly good bands, but they didn’t seem to have the ability to make something more out of that.

With this first band there were two people in white on stage. They played their music, but just couldn’t keep my attention. It was more like background music than a real live-act. It just didn’t work…

NCOR
Unbelievable… The vocalist of NCOR may look good (especially on the official promotion pictures), but he just can’t sing. At first you could put the blame on the broken microphone, but when he used another one it didn’t help much (it actually made it worse). He was constantly out of breath and he was singing on top of a second, sampled, voice

Strangely enough there were still some people in the room that were dancing on this. I was just too annoyed by the fact that the man couldn’t sing and perform. The rest of the music couldn’t interest me anymore.

THE FAIR SEX
THE FAIR SEX at least were really alive on stage. The combination of guitar (and sometimes bass) with electronics/ drums and two singers was pleasant enough to keep my attention. Pitiful enough the band had to overcome all kinds of trouble (like the power breakdown and the fact that the lights after this weren’t functioning well). The band overcame this with devotion

Although the music was played rather sloppily, the inspiration on stage made it the best show of the night. Probably the band was troubled by the unpleasant factor of playing in a room with defects. Their experience couldn’t have been the problem, because the band has played in the current line-up from 1988…

GIRLS UNDER GLASS
If you combine industrial/electronics with wave/gothic you got my attention. GIRLS UNDER GLASS proves to be a well performing band on stage. The use of guitar, bass, drums and electronics creates well-played music. Still, this band has one big problem. It’s all too nice… It’s a bit like Live for the alternative music

It’s good music, but there’s something missing. This Beautevil mind misses an edge. There’s nothing wrong with GIRLS UNDER GLASS, but it’s a bit too obvious. They seem to play too much on routine tonight and that’s always a bad thing. The spark between band and audience wasn’t there.

People were dancing, but you never had the idea that there was a band playing on stage. If you compare this to the concert Zeromancer gave earlier this year than GIRLS UNDER GLASS is the big loser of it all.
