Tonight’s (25-04-2002) show will feature a band (Anti-Flag) we’ve been waiting to see for a long time. Expecting the best, we set off for Tilburg. As usual in Holland the traffic was a killer and the trip to Tilburg took us about two and half hours whilst the trip back took only forty-five minutes. Anti-Flag Much to our surprise Anti-Flag turned out to be the opening act for Millencolin’s Home from Home tour. They opened their set with Fuck Police Brutality, Culture Revolution and Tearing Everyone Down. The crowd reacted so wildly even Anti-Flag themselves seemed a bit surprised. Anti-Flag’s bass player; Chris a.k.a. #2 held a short speech about unity and peace before continuing their set with Got The Numbers and, amongst others, This Machine Kills Fascists After what seemed only half an hour they ended their set with the title song of their first album; Die For The Government. Anti-flag certainly lived up to our expectations, leaving us anxiously awaiting the next chance we’ll get to see them live on stage. The Donots Although we’re not able to make any serious comments about the Donots’ set they did sound punkrock. In our humble opinion this German band couldn’t match the standard Anti-Flag set for the evening. Millencolin Mathias (Millencolin’s drummer) broke his arm some time ago, so for this tour they had a stand-in for him. However we have to note that if Millencolin hadn’t mentioned this fact we would have never noticed any difference. When they opened their act with No Cigar the crowd went insane and within no time a wild pit appeared. After that we heard the songs Man Or Mouse, Fingers Crossed, Botanic Mistress and Black Eye, all songs of their new album (Home From Home). Whilst the crowd continued to rage on we heard older songs like Duckpond, Olympic, Lozin` Must, 22 and Mr. Clean. This highly enjoyable evening left us drained yet satisfied, eagerly awaiting Anti-Flag’s return to Europe. Perhaps with Millencolin opening up for them :)
