Well, talking about busy times. It seems that this concert had to suffer the consequences. There were about 40 people in the W2 to see these two Dutch bands. Another reason could be the delay of the release of the new record of GAIL OF GOD. Their new album “Severe:d” will be released somewhere later this year now... Enough speculations, let’s talk about the music... NG-PRO These two Dutchmen had the difficult task to open for about twenty people. You might say it was a payed rehearsal for these guys. At first it seemed that they thought the same, but after a slow start the members of NG-PRO got into their own music wonderfully well. Their electro based drum ‘n bass meets guitar provided some catchy songs. They started and ended their gig with danceable instrumental soundscapes. In-between the band showed that they had other influences as well. Sometimes they took out the guitar to add some other sounds, but the electro beat kept the biggest role. Both members sung some songs and this combination of voices (and the use of different instruments) kept the show alive. NG-PRO proved to be professional enough to give the people what they wanted. Good, danceable music... GAIL OF GOD It’s a pity that their new album isn’t available yet. Because of that it’s difficult to have an opinion about the new songs. Gail Liebling however showed that he has found his high voice. In the beginning it’s a good addition to the music, but when you use it too much it becomes rather annoying. That the live show hasn’t changed anything from their earlier days isn’t a good sign as well. Instead of the drums behind a fence there’s now the keyboard of Troy. The music showed however some progression. During the release of “Fifth Angel” the band had good ideas, but they didn’t always seem finished. The new songs and the old songs that were played tonight showed that the bandmembers have definitely grown in their songwriting. Still, the band played so hard that half of the audience found their way to the room next to the stage. A whole show of GAIL OF GOD proved that the band doesn’t have too much variation in its music. It made it also difficult to keep your attention to the music. This way it’s just a heavy attack on your ears. Hopefully the release of the new album will be reason enough to change some things in their show. Now I had to wait for ‘Sucked Into The Sun’ to give you the highlight of tonight. Outside the weather had changed. Thunderstorms and lightning... The consequences of that made this review wait a little longer than usual. Damn those electronics... (Review & Pics: Beautevil ) |
