This year is the 10th anniversary of Roadburn, a website specialised in stoner rock and probably the biggest and most respected in the world. What better way to celebrate than a stoner festival? So when initiator Walter Hoeijmakers invited us, we didn’t say no. And like a real birthday boy he even offered free tickets to the Rockezine readers. Even if the winners had half the fun we had, they had a blast. The cooperation with 013 seemed to work out fine, because I’ve never been at a festival that was so well organised. Perfection in the detail: no mucky backdrops, but classy projections of the band’s logos; colourful cult video projections behind the large stage in The Choice; a clear program sheet in 70s style and last but certainly not least: a striking program on al 3 stages. Because of the overwhelming performances on all of the stages and the wild crowd, we were only able to cover a small part of this great festival. |
