ROCKEZINE AT Fields Of Rock

Following the black t-shirts coming from the train station, within 10 minutes walking we reach the city park of Nijmegen.
Where the city folk are used to walking their dog, playing a game of soccer or skating their round, today the Goffert offers something completely different.
The biggest 1 day festival for rock and metal: Fields of Rock. Almost 50.000 visitors and certainly the biggest stage in Europe ever. With all the big names on the program there has to be a double main stage.
A good organization never forgets to order for nice festival weather and so it was: for some people too hot, but for me it was perfect. This immediately influences the atmosphere, because everybody is really laidback and is in the holyday mood. Just hanging around on the grass, have a beer, a smoke, a snack an watch a range of great bands.
The first Fields of Rock, two years ago in the same park, already was well organized, but this year we immediately could see the progression. For one, there were more stands for the drinking coins and the possibility to pay with credit card; corn cups that are bio-degradable and of course the real Dutch smoked sausage.

After a whole day in the Goffert I felt really satisfied, even though it felt like it was over in 5 minutes. I’ve seen a couple of my favourite bands again, the weather was beautiful and everything was well organised. What more do you want? Fields of Rock 2005 was a success. At the end of the day almost 50,000 thousand people gathered at the Nijmegen Goffertpark to see the bands they loved to see, or just to enjoy the good atmosphere. For whatever reason, I`m sure everybody had a hell of a great day. I certainly did. But also there are some low-points, beer cost 2 coins (that’s about 3 euro) and you get one coin back when bring back 5 cups. But the cups were too weak; they were broken before you could even finish your beer. And after Rammstein (who stopped playing 20 minutes before due time) all the drink and food stands were closed and the security tried to get everybody away from the festival ground. So no after party on the festival and everybody had to go home. That was a little disappointing for me. However it was an awesome day. But still I`m wondering if the 100,000 liters of beer were fully consumed or did they saved the leftovers for the Rock in Park fest?
