| Before you started this band, you were a member of Emperor and Satyricon. Does it feel better now you can concentrate on playing your own music? Absolutely! Writing my own music is what I did from the moment I started playing music, but after my daughter died in 1994, I wasn’t able to write anything on my own for almost 5 years. So when I got my ability to write music back, it was right to quit the bands I was in but were not mine, to focus on BRT and Green Carnation, with only one exception – Carpathian Forest! | |||
| I listened to the latest release of Blood Red Throne, called Affiliated With The Suffering, and I liked it. But this release does not show anything new. Haven’t you got the urge to create something that’s different from other death metal bands? In some aspects, we are doing something new, but on the other hand we never claimed to be a renewing band. We wish only to follow up to where our inspiration sources left, like Deicide, Gorguts, Suffocation, Slayer, etc., after their early days. | |||
| The reaction of Rockezine on the new album was positive. Were the other reactions also that positive? We got very good reactions so far, but what pleases us the most is the reaction we get from our live shows. This is really important to us, even though we are very fresh as a live act, we consider live shows to be the most important field for us in the future. | |||
| We’re talking about the reactions of other people, but what do you think about the album? Are you satisfied with it? I think it’s a very good and varied album. It has a lot of different elements and I think the songs are very different from each other, which makes the album very interesting to the listeners. I am happy we managed to a get the live feel to the album with the acoustic production we choose. | |||
| Is there anything you would like to do different next time? Time will tell, but since live performance is our most important field, I guess we will keep working on the perfection of our music for album and live shows. | |||
| The cover of your last album is very bloody. Is blood an important aspect for the image of Blood Red Throne? Blood is the most important aspect of our image along with Death. Blood symbolizes Death to me in many ways and is the key word for us. Our first shows we played soaked in blood on stage. | |||
| Can we see you in the Netherlands in the nearby future? Yupp, we are doing 2 Dutch shows in February with Severe Torture and one in Belgium. Come check us out and party with us! | |||
| Is there anything REZ forgot to ask? Yeah, if I want a beer ;P But its ok, you get another shot at it when we come to Holland in February to play and bang our heads! Hail! | |||
