Necrophagia

First of all, why these interviews all of a sudden? I remember you saying this new album would speak for itself?
The interviews were the record companies idea, they agreed to horror promotions which we as a band feel are extremely vital to Necrophagia, we’re still agree the new release speaks for itself, total “Audio Horror” unleashed. Heavy dark, violent music.

As you said before the new album would speak for itself, but if YOU had to describe the album what description would that be?
“The Divine Art of Torture” is an album that transcends any standard genre. It’s definitely not a death, black or thrash metal record, that’s selling us way too short to be lumped into one specific genre or category. It’s a very original style that combines elements of extreme music with a style more similar to John carpenter, Jerry goldsmith, Fabio Frizzi, or Goblin.

Necrophagia has developed a completely different style compared to other bands in its genre. How is it possible to sound so different compared to your colleagues?
Thanks! It was definitely our intention to make a heavy and horrific record that has no peers. It’s a direction we’ll continue to follow on our upcoming releases. We’re making music that is challenging for us. We’re not happy with repeating our past or going through the motions, or following a path set by others, we are reinventing ourselves.

Where do you get your inspiration for writing music? I can imagine that this won’t be any daily happenings.
No, it comes from within from my obsession for horror. Ever since I was little I have loved the horror genre. It is so much a part of me that it all comes natural. Each song on the album is a mini horror story, some based on movies I have watched, others from a demented mind ha ha!!

You are involved in a lot of different bands (Necrophagia, Wurdulak etc). Which bands are that exactly and how do you combine them?
Right now Necrophagia is my main priority. With the new line up there are no schedule conflicts, no restrictions, and that’s definitely a good thing. It feels great knowing that Necrophagia is a top priority for all the members. We’ll be releasing records on a consistent time frame now. In regards to other bands. The new Ravenous is recorded and will come out this summer. Enoch is recorded and will be released in the near future. We’ll take a month to record the new Wurdulak album over the summer before rehearsing for the next Necrophagia release “Harvest Ritual” it’s all a matter of timing, if it can be done around Necrophagia’s schedule then it’ll happen, but nothing comes before this band, other than what I mentioned everything else is on hold for the next year or two.

Bands like Cannibal Corpse continually get censored, but your artwork is probably even worse. How come your artwork doesn’t get censored?
We’ve had a lot of stuff banned, but I’d rather have stuff released with our vision in tact. It’s such a waste to spend the effort getting that vision to become a reality only to have it banned. We don’t release censored versions, if it`s banned then it`s banned, there’s no alternate version.

What can we expect of your upcoming live shows? I hear rumours of complete horror shows?
We’ll be leaving in a couple weeks for our European tour. It’s called “The NecroTorture Tour”. We’ll have some of the horror show with us, but not the whole thing due to financial restrictions, hopefully in the near future we’ll be able to bring everything out with us. Then it’ll be a proper bloodbath, horror show and gorefest!! This time it’s just a bit scaled down, but it will still be a violent, dark, heavy show with some surprises.

Is there anything else you want to share with us?
