| Can you give us a short introduction to Schock? Ok, the band Schock exists since ’98. We’ve released our first album Erwacht in spring 2001 and played a lot of gigs all over Germany. As we finished our second baby Glamour we ran into new problems, both our guitar players (Vladdi & Olli) left the band because of family and study. (I think they want a solid life now, without the risks that it brings to become a rockstar! Good luck! ) We have two new guitarists now, Xaver and Lars. They have played in a few bands before. Xaver is also still a member of Link, another band out of this no name part of Germany, called Eichsfeld and Lars’ last band is called Deform. We know each other very long and we are very happy that both have decided to work with us.

| Why is your band name based on the name of the singer, instead of creating a new name, so every member of the band is left in his value? For me a band name doesn’t matter. I think it’s more important what a band has to say, what is the meaning of their music and that everybody can remember the name. Schock is a short name and it works. | |||
| Your new album, “Glamour” features 12 tracks. Why are all of these in German? German is the language we speak, that’s the reason why we work with this language. It’s easier to transport feelings and emotions to the audience by using your mother tongue instead of trying to do it in English or some other language. | |||
| What influences can you describe for your music and lyrics? Live your life and you’ll find enough things to talk about, things which take part of your life or things, which you have to deal with. I work with people and listen to some sick stories everyday, so I get enough stuff for my lyrics, maybe I can handle some of them better when I sing about them. | |||
| Your new record appears to take influences from loads of bands. “Euer Krieg” is sounding like Seigmen, whilst “Tanz” can be easily placed in the tanz-metal genre. How do you explain the variety of influences used on the album? The music is a product of all the different characters in our band. When I have a new idea for a song, everybody works on it and contributes his own thoughts. Sometimes it starts with a riff or something else, everybody makes it better and better in his own way. | |||
| Is there a story behind songs like “Fahr Zur Hölle” or “Sag Es Mir”? Every song hast its own story but I’ve tried to keep room for the thoughts of everyone who listens to our music. I hope people can identify themselves in our music. | |||
| And how about the album title? We have chosen Glamour because it symbolised our dream of lifestyle, the search for the sweetest and at the same time the most rotten fruits of success. | |||
| How do you see the artwork reflected in your music? The artwork has nothing to do with our music; it’s just a part of the title. We tried to design the booklet in a little shiny art – like “Glamour”! | |||
| Are there specific songs of the record that you particularly like? Which ones? Or why not? The whole album is our baby and we like each song on it. My personal favourite is “Weiß Wie Schnee” because it relates to a very dramatic personal experience. The rest of the band prefers “Euer Krieg” because it rocks. | |||
| Anything REZ forgot to ask? Last words, things you need to shout out? Listen to our songs; buy the album (from 11th august at your record dealer) because copy kills music…
Ok, that was one of my first interviews in English, so excuse my grammar…. | |||
