| I´m sure not everybody knows who you are and what kind of music you make. So can you introduce yourself?
Well, we are Morning, a band from the south of the Netherlands, called Zuid-Limburg. We call the music we make ‘dream metal’, it`s a blend of atmospherical pop, progressive rock and heavy fantasy metal!
| Why did you make another MCD and not a full length? Well, because most of the bandmembers are still going to school and we are not all that rich, so we choose to record a MCD instead of a full-length. It`s almost impossible to finance the recordings of a full-length yourself. The costs of the MCD were paid with the money we earned the last year with our gigs... | ||
| Are you satisfied with how the record turned out? Yes, at that moment we were very excited about the record! On the other hand we know that everybody makes some certain mistakes on it, but we`re still young and we try to learn as much as possible from it. | ||
| Who writes al the music and the lyrics? Saskia writes the lyrics. We write the music as a collective, everybody has his or her ideas or parts and we try to combine them and, or make our own parts fit it... It takes a lot of cooperation, but we`re almost always very satisfied with the result! | ||
| Is Saskia taking singing lessons? Because her voice is wonderful. Thank you! Yes, since last year (when we started the play more live), she started to take singing lessons. | ||
| With the type of music you make the connection to other Dutch bands as Epica, After Forever, Autumn is real easy. Why are you guys special?
Most of the people who are not really ‘into’ this kind of music, will make this comparison indeed, but when you hear a bit more of this genre, you`ll notice some differences... For example, Saskia`s voice or some synth sounds (like the famous Hammond, which I really like :)) are some things you won`t hear in the bands mentioned...
| What is the strangest thing that happened at a gig? Hmm... A few weeks ago we had a gig in Apeldoorn (Gigant) and Bas, our guitarist, insisted to make the setlist... only, with his strange sense of humour, we all had personalized setlists we completely didn`t understand.... Further: Strange things happen all the time, most of the time before or after a gig... It`s always fun on the road! | ||
| What are your future plans? We will continue to play live as much as possible... At the moment we have a busy schedule untill June. In the summer we might consider to record some new songs, but nothing is sure yet... | ||
| Anything left to say? Did REZ forget anything? Many thanks for the interview and the review! And to everyone who reads this: Visit http://www.morning.nl and we hope to see you at a gig! | ||
