Endrah
with Billy Graziadei on Oct 15, 2004

DEMONStration, the first EP of Endrah, was released a little while ago. Billy Graziadei, also known as one of the two Biohazard singers, is apart of this new sensation. Because of the fact that Endrah is a new band, we asked Billy a couple of questions.
For all of our readers that haven’t heard of Endrah yet, could you explain who you guys are and where you’re from?
Endrah formed in the fall and winter months of 2003/2004. We hail from different parts of the world. I am from the States and the rest of the band is from Brazil. We formed with a similar focus of writing extreme music that takes hold of all of our influences and pushes us as musicians beyond anywhere we`ve ever been. For me, it`s a huge departure from my years with Biohazard... technically.... more challenging as a guitar player.... something so different than Biohazard that it almost seems like a new beginning.... Even though there are many differences between the two bands, there are a lot of similarities to the early days of Biohazard when no one knew us (Biohazard) and we didn`t give a fuck if anyone liked us or not.... The same for Endrah; we play our music because it comes from inside of us. We are not interested in what most bands out there are interested in... And we will continue to remain the same!

Billy, where did you get in the picture?
Fernandao (the drummer of Endrah) and I got together to jam while I was living in Brazil for a while. We vibed pretty hard on the energy we had together and knew we’d one day form a band together. I went back to the states to do a new Biohazard album and Fernandao stayed in Brazil to work with the bands he was playing with. He then put together some musician friends and played me some of their stuff. I liked what I heard, added some ideas and flew down to Brazil which gave birth to Endrah.

Is there a certain meaning to the name Endrah?
Endrah is derived from the Buddhist/Hindu god of war.

After the first couple of spins I noticed a lot of aggression in the music. Is there a certain reason for the aggression? Some kind of anger or frustration?
My music has always expressed the emotions inside of me. The same goes with Endrah!!!

How does the writing and composing of the songs go? Because you live in New York and the rest of Endrah lives in Brazil.
There is no particular formula but Endrah is something new for me, it’s exciting and challenging. I actually have spent more time with Endrah over the last year or so than with Biohazard. We’re all professional musicians so we make our time together VERY productive with writing, rehearsing, touring and everything else.

I didn’t receive the lyrics with the promo of DEMONStration. Could you tell the readers something about the lyrics? About what they deal with?
Endrah stands for many things; there is no overall credo that we wave in people’s faces. None of us want that done to us and vow to leave the preaching out of Endrah. Our lyrics deal with more personal issues, less political and more social. We`re not here to change the world but only to express ourselves through our music. The lyrics are on the website: WWW.ENDRAH.COM

In March 2004 you had your first couple of shows. How did it go?
To play on stage with a new band was weird at first but I quickly found myself lost in the moment, intensity and the power of the music and then everything went red as usual!

How did the crowd respond?
The crowd took to Endrah with so much passion. It all reminds me of the early days of Biohazard.

You guys just released DEMONStration. Are there any plans for a full length? When will it be released?
We WILL be recording our debut album in 2005, no news on what label yet. That’s being worked out now and it will be out in sometime late 2005.

Billy, can you combine Biohazard and Endrah? Which band has your priority?
Combine???? Biohazard is Biohazard and Endrah is Endrah. As for a priority, they are two different bands for me. It is easy for me to be creative in different ways… music, words or anything else in life. It’s like a breath of fresh air… with Endrah.

Endrah will probably be categorized as metal-core. What do you think of the current metal-core scene?
I’ve been around the music scene for so many years now and have seen many trends come and go. The Underground will NEVER die!

A last word to our readers…
Be on the look out for Endrah this coming year 2005!!!
