| Can you briefly introduce the band to our readers? We are Demiricous from Indianapolis, Indiana. My name is Nate and I play bass and do vocals for the band. | |||
| "One" will be released at the end of this month, how have the reactions been so far? The reviews have been pretty good so far, which is pretty cool considering we are brand new and shit and shit is so flooded right now. | |||
| What was the worst thing you`ve read about "One" and what`s the best? The worst thing I guess is that it`s not original, which is totally right, I mean we aren`t trying to reinvent the wheel or anything. The best thing is that I read somewhere that it changed somebody`s life which really cracks me up but if the dude is feeling the shit then fuck yeah. | |||
| Considering you are about to release your first full length album, what are your expectations and how did Metal Blade get involved? We don`t really have any expectations other than to survive as a band and have a good time doing it. The way we got involved with Metal Blade was kinda funny. It came from an insanely drunk conversation with our now manager Mark Lafay. He has had success with managing some other bands so we decided to see if he wanted to fuck up his credibility with managing our dumbasses. Anyway he accepted and we started to work together and he was the one who got the shit in the right hands at the labels. | |||
| What bands have influenced the style of Demiricous the most? Obviously Slayer, but also old Sepultura, Overkill, old Cradle of Filth, Suffocation, all the old Bay area thrash shit, all kinds of old punk shit too. | |||
| Demiricous sounds like a rather difficult name for a band, what is the ideology behind the name? Really there isn`t any. We wanted a name that sounded metal but didn`t pin an image or style on the band. So we made the word up. We didn`t really want any references to anything I guess. | |||
I think some of the bands have moved to a commercial sound but everybody knows who stays real and who doesn`t, it`s always obvious. | You guys obviously play a style of thrash metal that harkens back to the eighties. Do you feel that too many of the old school bands have moved on to a more commercial sound, or do you think that thrash metal in general has evolved? I think some of the bands have moved to a commercial sound but everybody knows who stays real and who doesn`t, it`s always obvious. I also think the thrash sound has evolved, like the whole Swedish style and everything, but everybody knows who keeps the shit real and who doesn`t. Look at Exodus, still not giving a fuck, doing what they want. | ||
| Would you like to see thrash metal back at its peak, or do you feel that the scene won`t ever return to what it used to be? Well I think metal in general is rising again which is awesome, but nothing will be like it was and that`s not to say it won`t be as good or mean as much. If the shit gets huge again then it will just be different, but just as valuable I hope. | |||
| What thrash metal bands do you respect the most? Well, like I said I think it’s sick that Exodus is keeping the shit going, anybody who has kept to their essence since day one really. I really respect the old Sepultura, I mean everything like where they came from, how hard their shit was, their attitude, how raw they were, I love that shit. | |||
| What album is currently playing in your CD-player? Angelville - We Are The Wolves. They are one of my favorite local bands ever. | |||
| What was your best concert and what was your worst? Best. Probably a local fest put on in Indy called Stage Dive Fest, somehow we got to headline and it was fucking out of control. We covered Fucking Hostile because it was right after Dime had passed. The worst was probably New England Hardcore Metal fest. I had been sick as fuck forever and hadn`t slept in 3 days. So I fucking blacked out during our first song, and we cut one song out of the set because we were just totally playing like total shit fucks. | |||
| Where would you like to see Demiricous five years from now? Just doing the same shit, writing new records, touring, keep maintaining, stay happy doing the shit we do. | |||
| Thanks a lot for the interview! Is there anything left unsaid? Nothing really, thank you so much for giving me the time of day, I appreciate it. | |||
