| I don’t think everybody knows you and your band. So please can you introduce yourself and the band to the Rock-e-Zine readers. Hello Peops, We`re Ambiossis, a new crossover metal band from Holland. | |||
| You guys are all very young. Does everybody take you serious?
Well I am the oldest, (22), and our youngest is now 19. But because we come out with pretty serious metal, with pretty advanced lyrics, people don`t look at our age that much. We are happy that we can start out this young, and learn a lot before ever moving up on the ladder.
| The artwork for the album is very nice. Who made it? That would be our multi-talented guitar player, Remy. He did the entire booklet as well, and also did most of the website. I`m always amazed by what he comes up with. | |||
| Everybody is very positive about Ambiossis. How do you feel about that?
A lesson we`ve learned early on, ``Don`t ever walk next to your shoes``, is one we use in this situation. On one end it`s going well, with reviews and interviews, radio shows and that kind of stuff. On the other hand because we haven`t focussed on gigs that much, we haven`t got a lot of gigs planned for this year yet, which is a bit of a bummer. But we`re working on that!
| In my opinion there are a lot of music styles on your album, is that an aware choice? Yes and no. We choose not to hold on to one style and limit ourselves to that. We just play the songs that come to mind, mixing raps, funk, punk and all those styles in it. Makes the sound more unique and we can experiment more with different sounds. We always use a baseline of metal but mix different styles within that. | |||
| How do you get such a (screaming) voice. Can I learn that too? And if yes, how can I learn that? Hahaha, man you sound a bit like me a few years ago. I seriously learned myself how to, cause no one really could explain it in ways that I could understand. Singing wise I taught myself almost everything I can do. So it`s kind of hard to explain especially over the internet. Sorry dude, hey you can get a free lesson in real life anytime!!! | |||
| What’s the weirdest thing you ever seen at a show? Well weird, there’s nothing REALLY weird I can think of, but the vibe at the Grote Prijs van NL, was so hostile that it wasn`t fun to play anymore. Taking all the fun away from playing sucks ass. | |||
| What’s you’re favorite classic album? Is that also the main influence for the band? We all like different kinds of music, and I don`t think we have favorite albums, not single ones anyways. Mike and Robin listen to Dream Theater, Remy`s more an old school Deftones, Korn kinda guy. And me, I`m into a lot of shit, Silverchair, old Limp Bizkit and Korn, 36 Crazyfists, Ill Nino, that kinda shit. | |||
| What’s you’re favorite international band at this moment and what’s your favorite band from the Netherlands Hmm, seeing as I`m answering all the questions, (Clint), I`d have to take a stab for the rest of the band, but if I speak for myself. The new album of Ill Nino is sick, also Nonpoint brought out a very decent album, I like 36 Crazyfists album, ``A Snowcaped Romance``. Looking at Dutch bands, We`re friends with some of the guys of Cancelled and Agresion, and seeing as Cancelled is going to record their new album soon, I`m very curious what the outcome of that`ll be! Also of course Textures, Eric`s the man. And locally in Flevoland that is, Land Of Airplanes, (Stonerock), is a very talented band. | |||
| Do you or anybody else from the band have a side-project?
No not really, but then again there aren`t a lot of bands in Flevoland. I was asked to do audition for Brainshake back in the day. And Nomen also asked me half a year ago. But we`re pretty focused and determined about Ambiossis. We hope there is a future for us in this band and believe that with hard work and willpower we can achieve that future.
| What are the future plans for Ambiossis? Of course world domination. No there aren`t really any serious plans. We`re hoping to score a lot of gigs this year, so people get to know us better around Holland, and everyone gets a chance to buy our new album. And we`re hoping to record a second album at the end of 2006 maybe 2007. We just wanna play our music and maybe inspire people with it. Already there are people who can relate so much to our songs and the lyrics, and we are very grateful for those people because that are the kind of people that inspire us to write more songs. | |||
| Do you have some famous last words for me and the rest of the world?
Famous last words!? Well if you want famous last words then here you go. ``Carpe Diem`` Live every day as if it were your last. Enjoy every moment, every breath and everyone around you... And if you get a chance, visit our website or one of our gigs of course hahahaha!
| Thanks for answering my questions. It was my pleasure | |||
