Submission just released their first album on Listenable Records. So time to have a mail contact with this (for me unknown) band from Denmark.
| Can you please introduce the band to me and the readers? Hey.. Submission is: Christoffer Petersen(Guitar),Kasper Kirkegaard(Guitar),Morten Löwe Sørensen(drums),Boris Tandrup(bass),Steven Qvist(vocal). We play melodic death/trash metal, and we are from Denmark. | |||
| How did you hook up with Listenable Records? After the recordings of our 2nd demo/Mcd (Pain Or Pleasure), we decided to send the demo, to some of the record labels out there which we liked! After a short period of time we got an offer from Listenable Records, and we discussed the offer. After about a month or so, we all agreed that Listenable were the label we wanted to work with. | |||
| “Failure to Perfection” is your first release on a label. Were there any other labels interested to release your album? There were some offers from other labels, but as said before we all felt that Listenable were the label for us! That they could provide what we were looking for in a record label. | |||
| If there was a possibility you can change something to the new album. What would it be? Hmm.. Well we are actually quite satisfied about this album, but of course there are things we would like to change if we could! I think most musicians feel that way. When it’s something you’ve made by yourself, you’re your own worst reviewer, so naturally there will be 2nd thoughts about how it was done! | |||
| How did the recordings go? Do you write in the studio or at home? Do you make the riffs together? The recordings went well, it was partly recorded at Jacob Hansen’s studio, and at Tue Madsen’s Antfarm. All the instruments was done at Jacob’s studio, and the vocals were made at Tue’s Antfarm, along with the mixing of the album as well. The writing of our music takes place mostly at our rehearsal room, but this time we had to finish some of the vocal recording at the studio! The making of our riffs are made by both guitarist’s at their homes mostly, and are then brought to our rehearsal room to fully be created! | |||
| What do you want to achieve with this album? We want to conquer the world!!! Hahahaha… We’ve made this album cause that’s the way we think metal should be! So in a way the achievement has already happened. | |||
| How was playing at the Roskilde Festival?
Fuckin awesome, it was a big experience to all of us. We’ve been at the Roskilde Festival several times, and as a musician you’d always wonder how it would be to stand up there on the stage. So we were honored, that they chose us. The gig it self was a good and learning full experience to us.
| What’s your personal favorite classic album? Is this also one of the biggest influences for Submission? Hmm.. that’s a difficult one, there are so many classic albums. But one in particularly must be Slaughter Of The Soul with At The Gates. But there are many, like Symbolic (Death), Vulgar Display Of Power (Pantera) and Destroy Erase Improve (Meshuggah). All of the bands mentioned are in some kind of way an inspiration to Submission. | |||
| Which album is currently in your cd-player? Actually there’s nothing in it at the moment. But last cd I played was Bon Jovi (Crossroads) I think.. hahaha! | |||
| I didn’t see many tour dates on your site, don’t you like playing live? We absolutely dig it, but we’ve been busy with the album, and there has been many other things standing in our way trough the time. But we promise that from now and on it will look different. We make music, to play it live! | |||
| What are the future plans? Our future plans our simply to get as much gigs as possible, getting a tour established, so we can “head” bang the shit out of people at the venues world wide. | |||
| Where do you see Submission five years from now? Hopefully with a couple of albums more in the baggage, and strongly touring the world. m/ | |||
| Submission is a band from Denmark, so you must have seen the Mohammed cartoons. What’s your opinion about that? What cartoons? Hahaha.. No seriously it’s ridiculous, simply out of proportions! We don’t have any strong political views, but it’s sad to see how Governments keep destroying each other. We really don’t think the case is about those drawings/cartoons, but something completely else. But with that said, the world is a sick and twisted place, so what do we know. | |||
| Do have any famous last words for me and the rest of the readers from Rock-e-Zine? Yeah, check out the album “Failure To Perfection” we promise you that this melodic death/trash album wont disappoint you at all! We’ll see you out there m/ stay metal! | |||
