Ikuinen Kaamos

Could you define in five words where the band stands for?
Melancholical and extreme finnish metal.

The album was finished in December of 2005. Why did it take so long before the album hit the shops?
I think it was a combination of bad luck and inexperience of our label. It was really frustrating but our label kept us informed all the time. That really helped us a lot.

In which way does your new album surpass the previous releases?
With this album we found our sound and the way we want to make music. In the previous releases we were still looking for the right way to express ourselves. Our debut album was really difficult to make but I think that experience will help us tremendously in the future.

Are you already busy writing a new album?
Yes, the writing for the new album is almost finished. It will be a slower album this time but the long songs and melancholy will still be present.

What is the biggest compliment you read about the band and what is the biggest bullocks?
The greatest compliment comes from listeners who have given time and thought to our album. They are the ones we want to make our music for. I think the biggest bullshit comes from listeners who prejudge us or don’t even give the album a chance. I think that is very disrespectful considering how much time and effort we have spent making this album.

What is the most overestimated band in the scene, which band is most underestimated?
I don’t want to start bashing other bands in the scene. I’ve always thought that Kvist’s “For Kunsten Maa Vi Evig Vike” is a very underrated album. I think it’s a masterpiece.

If you had 100.000 euro to spare for the band, where would you spend it on?
I would never spend 100.000 euros for the band. I would much rather use that money to other more important things in life.

  Please finish these centenses:
- 2007 is going to be the year of Ikuinen Kaamos because ... we will record our second album.
- I wouldn’t want to be in any other band because ... this is a band where I can express myself freely.
- It’s my ultimate goal to ... make every album better than the last.

What`s the best and the worst part about being in this band for you?
As I said before the best part is that I can express myself freely. The worst part is that we have always had line-up difficulties with the band. I hope we can change that someday.

Playing which venue or festival would be a dream come true?
I would really like to play live at Ilosaarirock-festival in front of our home audience.

Finally: why should our readers check out your new album?
“The Forlorn” is an album that comes straight from the heart.
