| Please introduce yourself and the band. We are The End, born at the closing of the millennium 1999 and heralds of the apocalypse we are five strong and music is our common focus. We also have a new album called Elementary. | |||
| Could you tell me a bit about the history of The End? At first there was nothing, then there was everything, but mostly fire, dust and vastness. The dust dreading being alone began to collect in certain places amongst the vastness. It is on one of those collections our planet was formed and for a brief instant there flickered a civilization. There was music made by man for they did have some talents. The End are five people dedicated to that legacy. And then there was fire, dust and vastness. | |||
| A few weeks ago Relapse Records released your album Elementary. Are you satisfied the way the record turned out? We set some goals as far as songs on this album and worked very hard to achieve them. It`s easy to become comfortable with doing similar variations of the same ideas and we are really pleased with the natural overall sound of the record. It very much represents the five personalities of the members of The End. | |||
| Are you satisfied the way the label promotes the album? I`ve never really cared so much about that stuff. I mean I do care but I know it`s being done at a competent level. The bands you usually see a lot are major label/related bands and Relapse is not that. | |||
| How is the relationship with the label? Great, they are real music fans and we respect them on the personal level as well. | |||
|
Could you give some insight in the writing process? It`s very democratic: everyone`s satisfied when the songs are done and that is the main thing.
| From your point of view, what is your favourite track on the new album and why? I don`t know it is a mood thing for me. I like different songs at different times. So I can`t really say. | |||
| In your opinion, has the band developed through years, and if so, then
how?
Of course we`ve spent a lot of time together and in this day and age your twenties is for a lot of people when you figure out yourself and your place in the world, the band has become a part of our personal identities as well and it`s something which we now strive to protect.
| Did you ever visit www.rockezine.com ? What`s the best and what`s the worst part about this site. I just did check it out for this interview and it`s got a lot of content in the full range of heavy bands. The only thing that I would do to improve it is perhaps a search feature so that you could more easily filter through things to find exactly what you were looking for. | |||
| The last lines are for you. Is there maybe something I forgot to ask or do you want to say something to your mom. Eh? | |||
