| Please introduce yourself and the band. Soultamer is Joost Discipline on vocals, Victor Badlands on vocals and guitar, Wouter from Razorblade on bass and Stijn from Razorblade on drums. | |||
| How did you hook up with the guys from Rough Diamond Records? Our bassplayer Wouter Davids started Rough Diamond Records recently. He’s also the owner of Rebellion Records which is an oi!/punk label. Rebellion Records released all the albums of my previous band Badlands, so we have a history together. | |||
| It´s a new label, isn´t it? That’s right. | |||
| What do you think it´s the best part of your album? That’s hard for me to say because each and every song stands on its own. All tracks are very different from each other. Personally I’m very satisfied with the songs Feel it, Through Solitary Eyes and Ruins of the Legends because of the vocal melodies and the guitar parts. | |||
| Is there a certain message you`d like to pass on with your music? If so, what is it and why? No, absolutely not. Too much people have an opinion nowadays, so I do not feel the need to spread my message across. Most of my lyrics are not about actual things. They’re very abstract and therefore suitable for different interpretations. | |||
| What´s the main influence for Soultamer? In the first place traditional rock/metal from the likes of Black Sabbath, Priest and Danzig. But since we’re all from punkrockbands we’ve also drawn slight influences from The Misfits and Bad Brains. | |||
| Can you describe the creative process of making this album? (How did the songs get written, arranged, produced, the lyrics. Who does what in the band?) I wrote all the music and lyrics and I also co-produced the album. This way you can work fast and effective. It’s not good for a band to have several captains. Soultamer ain’t no ship of fools. | |||
| Where´s is Soultamer five years from now? Dead and buried. It’s a one off project, so this will be our last album. We want to keep it special and unique. | |||
| Do you have any famous last words for the rockezine.com reader? Thanks a lot for the interview and for showing interest in Soultamer. | |||
