Vintersorg
with Mr. V on Jul 13, 2007

Please introduce yourself and the band.
I’m Swedish musician that study to become a teacher. My nature is sprung out of curiosity regarding everything in life, science and nature especially. The music I create is a vast mixture of styles and genres but I never really think of that while composing, it’s just happens that way. The band Vintersorg has existed since ’94 and have released a numerous albums including our last one called “Solens Rötter” More info about the band is to be found at www.vintersorganic.com.

You just released your new album on Napalm Records, are you satisfied the way the label promotes the album?
Yes, we think that Napalm are doing a good job spreading the word of our new album, they’re doing a lot of adds and special campaigns etc. And they set up a lot of interviews for us.

What are the lyrics about?
It’s about the same subject that I always write about: the relation between Man and Nature but this time it’s more personal and poetic on this album that on for example “The Focusing Blur”. A bit less scientific but still having reality as a foundation, so it’s a mixture of scientific views and a nature romantic views. It’s also about how Man seems to think that we’re greater than our source of life. Politics and religion aren’t included in that “source of life”-theme as I’m not interested in that.

Who writes the lyrics?
I write the music and the lyrics and we think that it’s fine having it like that. Mattias sometimes come up with ideas regarding arrangements and sometimes we just keep it the way I present the songs. He of course also writes his guitars leads.

Why did you decide not to sing in English but in Swedish?
We sing in Swedish as we’re a Swedish band. I felt inspired to write in Swedish and therefore the lyrics became in Swedish this time around, the previous album was all in English. We haven’t decided what language we’ll use on the next album, it’s all about passion and inspiration, maybe it’ll be in Swedish or maybe a mixture of both English and Swedish?

What’s the biggest influence for you personally?
Nature in all its forms, it’s just endless as it contains all aspects of life and thinking. It’s fascinating to study it as you get so rewarded when you get a glimpse of it’s “secrets”.

Can we expect a big tour in the future?
It’s a bit hard to tell as we’re not focusing on tours due to numerous reasons, but you never know.

How is a typical Vingersorg show?
Rare…hehehe..as we’re not a live act at this point. It’s too complicated to get it together with family, studying, work and so on. We’re also only two guys in the band so we have to hire people in for every show and it’s just too complex to make it happen right now.

Is there something I forgot to ask, this is your moment of fame…..
Well, check out this new album it’s adventurous.
