| Can you please introduce yourself and the band to our readers? Sander: We’re a death/thrash metal outfit situated in and near The Hague. T and myself play guitar for Cypher and( frontman) T also does the vocals. Frank plays drums and is also the drummer for a band from The Hague called Acrid. New on bass is Joost. | |||
| A few months ago Rusty Cage records released your debut album Darkday Carnival. Are you still satisfied the way it turned out? T: Yes we are still extremely satisfied with how everything turned out, Jochem Jacobs did awesome mixing and mastering work and the production sounds brutal as fuck. The whole package is exactly what we had in mind for our debut album, brutal sound, sick artwork, awesome digipack cd, what more can you wish? Rusty Cage really did a superb job promoting our debut album, advertisements in all major european metal mags, interviews, you name it. Being the controlfreaks that we are, we wanted to have a firm grip on the whole concept behind the artwork, website and ofcourse lyrics and music. | |||
| Are you also still satisfied with Rusty Cage Records? Are there any bigger labels that showed interest after the release? T: We are still very content with Rusty Cage, although we had a couple of offers from bigger labels, and we are advocating the whole “bigger is better” thing in our private lives, we feel that no other label would stick their head out like Rusty Cage did for us. With all the promotional support they give us we are positive this is the best deal available for us at the moment. | |||
| Is there something like a concept behind Darkday Carnival or what kind of emotions, feelings, lyrics or stories holds the album together? T: There is a strong atheist, antichristian sentiment in the songs, lyrics and artwork. Darkday Carnival is about 2000 years of suppression, hypocrisy and the preaching of false virtues. Metal should be about aggression, a torrential influx of naked hate, not about love, hippieshit and all current popculture crap. Stuff like that is best left to girlie bands and gothmetal bullshit. | |||
| What can we expect from Cypher in the coming months? Sander: Playing shows and work on new material basically. We have a bunch of dates lined-up for the coming months and we are working on more. We also have just been confirmed for this years edition of the Arnhem Metal Meeting which is a kick ass festival in a super cool venue. Check our website or Myspace page for details. | |||
| A few weeks ago your bass player left Cypher. Why did he leave the band and how did you find a new bass player that quick. Sander: Jerry left due to the fact that he is moving back to his home country of Surinam. We already knew Joost(van der Graaf) from his work with 90`s band Creepmime. He also plays in a new band from our area called I-Chaos. He` s a kick ass player and we believe one of the best metal bassplayers in the Netherlands. When Jerry announced he was leaving, Joost was the first on our list of people we’d like to work with. We’re stoked to have him join the team!!! | |||
| What is the weirdest thing that has happened to the band on the road? Sander: I think that would be some band member getting anally probed by perverted alien’s on the highway near Groningen a lil while back. ;) We have our moments on the road but nothing superweird has happened....... yet | |||
| What is the most embarrassing album in your own private album collection. (How/why did you get it?) T: I do not own any embarrassing records.
Sander: | |||
| What is the most overestimated band in the scene, which band is most underestimated? T: All goth metal bands are overrated in my opinion.

| The last lines are for you… First of all thank you for the interview!! We hope that the people reading this will check our album and come have beers with us at one of our shows. Cheers! | |||
