9 questions for German punk-rockers Revolver, who just released their debut album "The Unholy Mother of Fuck"!
| What was the main motivation for the founding of the band Revolver, and creating an album like "The Unholy Mothers Of Fuck"? The initial idea was to work with Tomas Skogsberg. Heīs a great guy. We booked the studio and then formed the band, no joke! | ||
| Most people (even me) will immediately start making references to Entombed, especially the "To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak The Truth" album. What would your reaction to this statement be, and what would you name as your prime influences? Entombed definitely had an impact on Antek and me. If people compare us to them we take it as a complement. Theyīre cool. I just hope that people wonīt stop there and start listening to the songs behind the sound. | ||
| How did working with Tommie Skogsberg influence the sound of Revolver, and would you have wanted a different sound yourself? We wanted the album to be recognized as a sunlightstudiorecording nothing else. That was the idea like I said from the beginning. We never imagined that we would release an album all around the world and that people would ask us these kind of questions. We wanted to come home, play our stuff to our friends and say: "Listen! Sounds like a trashcan thrown out of the window!" | ||
| 75% of the band is German and 25% of the band is Swedish. How does that mix? Do you fly your vocalist over every time you want to practice or do you keep him locked up in the basement of your house feeding him water & bread only? We keep him in the basement, how did you know that? | ||
| What are your favourite songs on the album, and can you tell me a bit about them (especially lyricwise)? My favourite is "Instant Idiots" because itīs so easy to play even when youīre drunk. I donīt want to talk about lyrics too much, because thatīs Jensī job. My advice: Whenever you donīt understand the vocals: just insert a "Fuck You!" It works most of the time. | ||
| "Sucks To Be You": if you could be one person for a day who would you want to be (and why) and who would you definately NOT want to be (and why)... Iīd want to be my dog. Heīs one happy fucker. Iīd really not want to be the guy they caught with the bomb in his sneakers. | ||
| I quote: "Eat,sleep,eat,shit,eat,fuck,eat,sleep,eat". That`s one FUCK
on 5 times dinner. Are you that hungry? You`re supposed to be in a band and have sex with groupies all the time, so what`s up with that? Don`t let me down!
Just leave the "fuck" away thatīll get you close to the truth, sniff.
| Getting back to a more serious question, with Music For Nations backing you up and VIVA playing your video, that means you`ll be doing a European tour soon, right? Right?!? ;)
Soon as we know, youīll know. Just watch our website www.revolvernet.de.
| What happened to the demo-song "...Anywhere But There"? It`s not on the album... It is! We just changed the lyrics. Itīs called "J-Day" now. How come you know the demo? Where did you get it? Probably weīll put the original version as a bonustrack on the japanese release. | ||
