If there is one band that I would instantly forgive for not touring, for not playing one single concert or festival, it has to be the German one-man project Wumpscut. With a reputation that exceeds beyond any other industrial/electro project, Rudy R. can proudly tell he blackened many hearts with albums like "Embryodead", "Wreath Of Barbs" and the highly criticized "Bunker Gate Seven". The music of this man is a solid wall of furious loops combined with aggressive shouting through a voice-decoder as well as samples that are somehow always related to war, decay and suffering of humanity. On this new EP, which previews tracks from the forthcoming "Preferential Legacy" CD-set, it is no different; judging by the song titles such as "Overkill (Death For The Masses)", "Krieg" and "Total War". Musically, most interesting is the first song, which is the first :w:-cover to be made: "All Cried Out".

Whereas the original is a more pop-orientated song (performed by No Angels), this version is nothing more than a re-recording of the song, now done with different instruments. It doesn’t add anything to the original, nor does it sound much worse. The same goes for the rest of the songs on this release. "Overkill" is the only new song and has a wonderful dark atmosphere, whilst the rest of the songs are previously released on such EP`s as "Music For A German Tribe" and "Preferential Legacy", though not always commercially available. That does, however not mean these songs are bad. Not at all. Listen to the extraordinary heavy "Krieg" and you should agree on the fact that Rudy R. succeeded in preparing the world for the full-length version of this promotional EP.
