A quote from an earlier interview: “Nobody told us metal was dead”. Wizard has been living in a complete musical isolation since the eighties. Listening to this band brings back memories of Manowar and Helloween. The arrangements and the sound are identical to the founders of the so-called true metal. The same with the lyrics: titles as “Lokis Punishment”, “Thors Hammer”, and “Hall Of Odin”, need no further explanation.
One look at the cover could have predicted it all: A grey-bearded man on his throne, surrounded by creatures from hell. | |
We’ve seen and heard it all before. For the die-hard fans of old fashioned metal, this album is a compulsory one to listen to, given the very good production. Something you cannot say about the average early eighties metal. A minor point next to the overload of cliché’s, is the lack of constant quality in the song material.
