Burning Point, a band founded from the ashes of Planet Caravan in the depths of Finland, started as a traditional metal band in the vein of Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and such. Slowly but surely the band developed their sound into a tight blend of Children of Bodom and Yngwie Malmsteen. Burning Point now deliver us their second offering; Feeding The Flames.
Personally, I wasn’t really familiar with Burning Point. I am however quite interested in hearing what a combination of Yngwie and Children of Bodom would sound like. All I can say is: WOW…
Immediately after pushing the play button and listening to the first track “Into The Fire”, you’ll get sucked into an original mix of speedy solos and fast riffs, accompanied by an awesome traditional metal vibe.
Musically the band certainly lives up to the expectations. They have a real Children of Bodom thing going on, yet maintaining a personal sound, sometimes even venturing into the land of symphonic power metal like for instance Rhapsody. | |
Fast riffs and joyful solos will for sure get every power metal fan’s attention. The music has a really different feel in every song and keeps you interested in discovering what Burning Point will do next. Front man Pete Ahonen does a great job with very typical singing, reminding me a lot of Bruce Dickinson or even Fabio Lione of Rhapsody at times.
Production wise, the album sounds perfect. All instruments, including the vocals sound great and certainly have a good vibe going. They make the combination of melodic black metal and power metal sound very original and catchy in every song.
The only thing left mentioning is that Burning Point may be facing a great future and fans of the
aforementioned bands will absolutely enjoy this release. Burning Point has caught my attention, and I personally think they will capture a lot more hearts in the future.
