Now, what to say about this lil’ album? This is the first full length release from BTL and I must say I like it a lot. Straight up, no-nonsense hardcore in the tradition of Sick Of It All and Strife. Definite old school stuff, with a modern edge but virtually without any metal-influences. The singer has an aggressive, shouting style that carries the songs without drawing away all the attention. The lyrics are mostly personal, yet there’s nothing we haven’t heard before. That’s also the case with some of the songs; my only point of criticism on this album. Some songs just sound a bit like one of the better known bands, a song like ‘Faces’ for instance is an obvious Cro-Mags rip-off. Besides this, there’s plenty of variety between the eleven tracks on this album, so I won’t hold it against them.

But still... The sound quality is good, BTL plays tight and all the songs are of a decent length. The artwork features the lyrics and some live-pics could have used a bit more work, but are pleasant enough to look at. In conclusion, this is a good album and it’s always fun to listen to bands that play the type of music they like, and not just what’s hot for the week. The vinyl version of the album contains a Warzone cover as a bonus. Unfortunately I’ll have to do with one of these small, shiny discs. Good effort by Funtime Records, still supplying the scene with good punk and hardcore releases.
