Blaze Bayley? Yes, Blaze Bayley, the ex–frontman of the holy heavy metal act Iron Maiden. He featured on the two, in my opinion, minor releases; the “X-Factor” (1995) and “Virtual XI” (1998). What less people might know is that Blaze also used to be the vocalist of English band Wolfsbane, with whom he released four albums between `89 and `93. After the split with Maiden in `99 he decided to form a new band under his own name. With Blaze he released two albums: “Silicon Messiah” (2000) and “Tenth Dimension” (2002), filled with very Iron Maiden-sounding heavy metal songs. Right now, in 2003 Blaze thought the time was right to release a double live album. A good idea for the fans, that’s for sure. These live recordings are from the “Tenth Dimension” tour in 2002, were recorded in Switzerland and the U.

K., and cover almost all the bands in which Blaze ever took part. Songs by his previous band like “Virus”, “Sign Of The Cross” and “Futureal” are combined with newer work like “Ghost In The Machine” and “Silicon Messiah” from the Blaze release with the same title. He also plays some Wolfsbane songs for the older Blaze fans. This live recording certainly offers the fans a nice coverage of all that Blaze did in his career until now. The band plays very tight and the production, mixed by Andy Sneap, sounds all right. But then I always question the very, very enthusiastic audience. All in all; food for Blaze fans.
