Hell yeah, finally. We had to wait for this release an awful long time but here it is. A new Skyfire release. This progressive, melodic thrash band from Sweden is back with their second release “Mind_Revolution” after the release of their debut “Timeless Departure” back in 2001. The typical up-tempo guitar and keyboard orientated progressive thrash Skyfire has displayed for some years now is also presented to us on “Mind_Revolution”. And again the band entered the Abyss studio and recording the 9 jewels on this release. The sound doesn’t vary that much from “Timeless Departure” but Skyfire did take the time to work out the arrangements better this time and this is what makes “Mind_Revolution” sound more complete to me.

Listen to songs as “Haunted by Shadows” (with the Amorphis key touch), or “Uncloud the Sky” and you’ll understand what I mean. One thing is for sure. Skyfire is a band with a distinct sound of their own. The band is not comparable to any other band I know. Or it would be something like a combination between Children of Bodom (melody) meets Amorphis (atmosphere and keys) and Soilwork. But even that description doesn’t fit the sound entirely. The musicians know how to handle their gear, they do not play above their abilities and as a result everything sounds as if it was meant to be that way. Just buy this piece of virtuoso thrash metal!!
