An amazingly strong debut, this "No-Place". There is some really decent melodics to be found on this album, comparable to some early VNV-Nation and Access Denied. In fact, I’d consider this the best release of the new year so far! Which is not too astonishing, as the duo behind this album have been experimenting with music since 1996, and it’s these 7 years of experience that crystallized on "No-Place". The voice of Stefan Möller, accompanied by the synthesizers of Thomas Wehr sounds mature enough to compete with aforementioned bands.
The sound on the album is mostly built around the synthetic pop-tunes that we’ve heard decades ago, freshly re-written without taking on that "I’ve stolen this"-effect. | |
Not at all; although you can easily tell the influences used for this album, the atmosphere used is definitely a product of their own.
The biography mentions three tracks for possible club rotation, and it’s those songs that appeal most to me in particular. "Pastlight" (opener), "The Scared" and "World Within You" perfectly reflect this band and would deserve rotation in several clubs. Guess a tour with a band like Assemblage 23 could be miraculous.
