Imagine: you are in Spain but the sun isn’t shining. Still, you want to brighten up your day. I have the perfect cure for this. Don’t waste your money on paella or on Bullfights. Just buy the new Tierra Santa album! This will immediately bring a smile upon your face and your day is saved. Even your friends will spontaneously smile along with you and instant harmony among you and your friends is a fact.
‘Indomable’ is the title of the new Tierra Santa effort. It’s their 5th album in six years. If the production is that high, always ask yourself the question ‘does it still contain quality? And not quantity for quality’.
Well, Tierra Santa has certainly released another quality album. Pure heavy metal including catchy riffs thundering drums and a singer that sounds always happy. I don’t have a clue what his lyrics are about ‘cause I don’t speak a word Spanish, but I imagine a lot of dragons, princesses and historical events.
If you own the last four albums of Tierra Santa, you won’t be disappointed about this one. “Indomable” album contains a lot of quality songs but there isn’t much originality to be found on this CD. I think that Tierra Santa don’t care about that. | |
They just want to release a decent heavy metal album to listen to while enjoying a nice cold glass of beer (or Sangria, they remain Spanish).
The strong point of t this CD is definitely the guitar play. A perfect combination of classic metal riffs with a modern twist. Sometimes the riffs remind me of At the Gates ‘Slaughter of the soul’ (this is the only comparison between this two bands!). Catchy riffs, that will definitely make your day more bright.
The singer doesn’t sing as if his pants were too tight, but uses a normal singing voice. A bit like Demons and Wizards-singer or even Dave Mustaine of Megadeth. He doesn’t annoy me (like other heavy metal vocalists sometimes do) but doesn’t add much as well. He pretty much follows the guitar melodies and doesn’t do much with his voice. But like I said it’s heavy metal. Not a genre know for it’s originality.
All with all an album definitely worth buying for heavy metal addicts. Spanish heavy (happy?) metal made by true metalheads. Not too original, but still pretty decent if it pours outside. For metal fans that seek originality or something different in the genre, don’t pay attention to this CD.
