After 3 years of hard work, End Of April return with a new EP called Divided By Numbers, followed later this year by their debut album If I Had A Bullet For Every One.
Divided By Numbers is their second EP after their self-titled EP released in 2000. That EP was filled with furious rap metal in the likes of Project 86, (hed)PE and Thumb.
This new EP is a giant step forwards. The music is detuned and hungry with unrelenting riffs and a vocal performance that explodes with a depraved intensity. There are influences varying from bands like Snapcase, Helmet, Spineshank, Primer 55 and Thumb.
Guitar wise, they have really improved. Instead of playing the standard nu metal riffs, they choose to play riffs with a lot of melody yet still heavy and intelligent. | |
“Depend” and “Scene Circus” are great examples of this. The drum playing is really on behalf of the music. Their drummer has booked a lot of progression since the band’s last EP, showcasing a tight drum technique in every song.
The production is also OK, so there is not much to complain about on this EP. I really wonder how their debut album will turn out like. I’m definitely looking forward to it. After Dreadlock Pussy, Dimension Seven, Brainshake and Agresion, End Of April is the next Dutch band that know how to play good and heavy nu metal!
