Fear Factory doesn’t need an introduction. The band had a lasting impact on metal music since the nineties. Redefining metal with albums like Soul Of A New Machine and especially Demanufacture. Pushing boundaries with their blend of thrash/death and techno, they reinvented metal. The last couple of years things weren’t as tight as they used to be, personal as well as musical differences were disastrous for the band. For awhile the band decided to continue without guitarist Dino, however while you are reading this review the band is said to be busy writing new material without vocalist Burton, who’s still busy with his own electro project "The Watchers".

Throughout the band’s career they have recorded a lot of songs that didn’t make it to any of the albums. Roadrunner, clever as they are, use the bands’ split to release the earlier released Concrete and this new offering called Hatefiles.

Personally I figured this album would be filled with well-known remixes, but fortunately enough this isn’t completely true.

The album sets off with four post Digimortal songs ("Terminate", "Frequency", "Demolition Racer" and "Machine Debaser") recorded by the band. Not all of these songs featured vocals, so Burton went back into the studio, providing his vocals for the songs. These four songs make this album definitely worth buying! Besides these four new songs the album also contains songs mixed by producer Colin Richardson, a few Junky XL remixes, a demo version ("Dark Bodies") and a lot more! I can go on and on about this album, but if you call yourself a Fear Factory fan you are obliged to purchase this album. I rest my case.
