I have mixed feelings about this second Hatred demo. Hatred is a Dutch band originated in 1999. First of all, the front-cover is just plain ugly, but I guess that’s a just matter of taste. Second, with al the extreme good death metal releases that emerge from the Netherlands, I may have gotten just a bit saturated. Nowadays for a death metal band to be able to impress me, you have to come up with something really good. And I mean good in terms of quality, not originality. Maybe we should just be happy with the number of high-quality death metal bands here in Holland. But then again, maybe I’m only exaggerating here…

Anyway, Hatred recorded a mini-CD with 4 songs, in which Slayer influences are blended quite well into death metal song structures.

The overall impression is quite alright, but nothing spectacular. Just well performed death metal, nothing bad, but absolutely not the new sensation from the Netherworlds. So what can I say more? It’s like McDonald’s, it tastes alright, but not that good, and afterwards you can’t remember what you’ve eaten, because it all tastes the same.
