If the German magazines Zillo and Sonic Seducer, as well as the Swedish SAMA-awards say nothing but praising words about a relative newcomer, you should attempt to get a hold of that album. It will work for Interlace, a quite new Swedish band that stands on the edge of breaking through in the mainstream electro/industrial-scene. The album "Under The Sky" is the latest offering by this band and features 15 tracks, of which a few are remixes. This whole album is divided in two categories, the songs of the normal album and the bonus tracks, which are unique for the European version. So what do you get for you money? The title track that starts the disc is a bass-pounding club version that shows some resemblance to late Covenant. Then, there are three remixes; only one of them is really interesting however. | |
The Headscan remix song "Equus", a small intermezzo "Bells", followed up by the wonderful "Pinioned", which is sort of an industrial version of Diary Of Dreams. The 11-second outro "Icon II" that closes the first part could have been left out.
The second part of this disc features more normal songs, like "Ascent", "Outcast" and previous club hit "Soul Of A New Machine", and there’s no doubt that if you’re into a band like Cenobita, you’ll love this part. There’s an overdose of bass, shitloads of weird electronic sounds and a mourning voice that drags the whole album forward. It’s too bad that there’s some weird remixes, because there are only 9 normal songs on this album, which all prove that this band will be heard in the future. 8,5 points for the normal songs, 7 for the remixes.
