These French youngsters delivered a very reasonable debut album “Coming From The Sky” last year. Their neo classic metal was very much influenced by bands like Helloween and Gamma Ray. Now a year later you can still detect these roots, but slightly their style is moving towards bands like Stratovarius and very obvious Angra. The bombastic “Still Believe” is the best example on which you can hear that the vocal lines of Benjamin Sotto are very similar to Andre Matos`. His voice is very high, but not as strong as Andre and sometimes a bit irritating. Most songs are fast and furious with great speed tracks like “Until The End” and “Destiny” being the best. The rhythm section of drummer Maxenco Pilo and new bass guy Pierre-Emmanuel Pellison is very tight and plays those fast parts very convincing. | |
To me the better tracks are the melancholic “The Angel”, the nice structured “The World Will Be Better” and the great riff of the title track. Also; the new guitar guy Frederic Leclercq knows how to use his instrument very well. In “The World Will Be Better” he delivers a very good solo and “Words Of Change” has a nice guitarline. In “Condemned To Die” and “The Sandman” he is supported by Silent Force guitarist Alex Beyrodt.
In the end we have a very great sounding album (produced by Tommy Hansen) on which the band has developed very well. The song structures are much better, but still Heavenly hasn’t have an own style and is still searching. I believe this band has enough potency too grow and develop an own sound.
