The Monolith Deathcult is a new Dutch extreme death metal act featuring (ex)-members of bands like Dead Head, Eternal Conspiracy, Altar and Slayne. With “The Apotheosis”, the Monolith Deathcult release their debut album full of extreme death metal in the vein of bands like Nile and Cannibal Corpse. The songs are mostly played at high speed with grinding drums, raging and innovative guitar riffs and lots of extreme tremolo-torturing solos. One thing is for sure: This definitely is one of the best extreme Dutch metal releases ever. Listen to great death metal bombs like “Forest of Flesh”, “The Deserved Reputation of Cruelty” or “The Apotheosis” and you can only agree with me.

Lyrically the band handles subjects other ones leave untouched, like the Islam for instance. A very timely subject right now if you would ask me. But also mythological subjects aren’t left untouched. Vocally the Monolith Deathcult also has enough variation to offer with the two extra (background) vocalists. The production sounds very clear, which means that every detail can clearly be heard in the mix. With “The Apotheosis” the Monolith Deathcult can easily compete with their foreign colleagues.
