The first thing that comes to mind when listening to Elephantum is Queens Of The Stone Age’s first album. The somewhat muffled guitar sound and the riffing are obviously inspired by that record. But that lack of originality is the only thing that’s wrong with this record. The songs are well written, the melodies are quite good and the four Dutchmen are skilled musicians.

Every now and then an organ, percussion and guitar solo’s enrich the dreamy sound. The acoustic intermezzo “Galleon Of The Sand” brings even more variety. Maybe there`s one other thing that’s wrong with this record: it’s too short. But that can also be considered a good thing; let them crave for more!
