They have come a long way, these Dying Fetuses. Already founded back in 1991, it took the band more then 5 years to release their first album called Infatuation With Malevolence. After this release things went pretty fast for Dying Fetus, especially after releasing their third album Killing On Adrenaline in 1998. The standard for their current sound was set, and they toured extensively through North America and Europe. Their ‘breakthrough’ came with a record deal with Relapse Records, and the release of their best album ever Destroy The Opposition. Until now! Because here it is, their fifth official studio release called Stop At Nothing. For everybody who liked Dying Fetus this one is necessary dope.
What a band this is. They always have had a typical sound with strange guitar loops, fiddles and so on, but the solid metalcore-type base is also still present. The combination of fat power chords, rolling, sometimes pounding bass drums and of course the vocal variation with two singers (low and higher grunts) make Stop At Nothing a killer release from a killer band. | |
Most of the material must have been written with the idea never to change a winning team, cause most songs might have been on Destroy The Opposition as well. No problem with me. The only difference is that the songs are more intense then the material on their previous release. Just listen to death metal classics like “Schematics”, “Onslaught Of Malice” or “Stop at Nothing” and you immediately get the need to destroy anything: fantastic. Even more fantastic is the fact that the band sounds almost the same with a totally new line-up. With a new guitarist, bass player, singer and drummer Dying Fetus succeeds in reaching that high quality the fans expect from the band. Great release. Buy or fucking die!!
