A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset is the beautiful title of the debut album by Polish biggest promise in progressive rock, Satellite. This album gives you more than seventy minutes of progressive music. It’s clear that this is not just a release made by new comers in the business. The sound on the disc is simply too good. Wojtek Szadkowski, former member of Collage, wrote most of the music and lyrics.

The album starts promising with songs like “The Evening Wind” and “On The Run”. Both tracks are quite original and very well structured. Beautiful melody changes and impressive sounds. Acoustic parts are alternated with stewing harmonies. One immediately notices the quality of Robert Amirians singing. The music reminds me a bit of the Collage Moonshine period.

Other noticeable references are Marillion (especially the guitar playing by Maciek Meller) and Pendragon. The nine songs on A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset are between four and fifteen minutes in length. There are some weaker tracks on the album, “No Disgrace and Not Afraid” for example can’t compete with the high level of the other songs. Then again, all my favorite albums have one or two weaker tracks.

I think that this band will be the best new comer for 2003. It would surprise me if they wouldn’t. There are some sound samples on the website of the band www.satelliteprog.com but you can save yourself the time and trust me. Buy this album.
