The once post hardcore noisemakers Cave In from Boston have grown up. Their rough and unbridled talent finally sharpened and moulded into a rock band with well….hit potential (without taking the knee dropping commercial compromise). Stephen Brodsky’s powerful vocals charging in front of driving guitar riffs, smooth yet forceful drumming and sloping bass sound, riddled with melody. From Rival Schools type rock (“Anchor”) to Codeseven’s tranquillity (“Inspire”) to Alice In Chains (“Seafrost”) atmosphere, Cave In give us beautiful modern rock music without pastiche or nu-metal type fashion statements. | |
No, this is grown up music, made for our ears not our eyes. Intelligent lyrics, well produced (love the reverb), challenging songs.
Smart move from RCA Records by the way, to let the band mature at Hydra Head Records, letting them rage their rage and at the moment of maturity…take them on board. Cave In’s vinyl releases will still be done by Hydra Head by the way. A good thing ‘cause now the masses can finally enjoy the beauty of Cave In. Raising the banners on marketing rock boy bands. C’mon you know who I mean…
