Darkane`s second is called Insanity. A more fitting album title would be impossible: after the technical Swedish-death release Rusted Angel, setting itself apart from the lionshare of the releases by its flirts with industrial, they have taken this route a little bit further. Insanity is extremely technical, but also extremely tight. More and more diverse influences have crawled in the riffs, such as Meshuggah ("Psychic Pain") or more hardcore-oriented bands as The Haunted ("Emanation Of Fear"). The biggest difference between the first and this album is undoubtly the vocal style. New vocalist Andreas Sydow is obviously not used to a screaming style, which makes it all the more interesting - in all honestly, I`ve never heard screams such as on Insanity.

Then there`s also clean melodic parts (just listen to the beautiful "Third"), making the package complete. The rhythms are sometimes very dissonant, creating a strange industrial-like atmosphere over the songs ("Impure Perfection" for instance); another thing worth mentioning are the excellent intro ("Calamitas"), interlude ("000111") and outro ("Inverted Spheres"). Instead of just using the obvious movie samples, they decided to create their own `classic` instrumentals with violins and all. Twisted shit, for sure. Take that together with the excellent artwork and Insanity with its more accessible sound is bound to appeal to a larger audience than Rusted Angel without losing what Darkane stands for.
