The excellent German power metal act Edguy blesses us with a double live release. The sound quality is excellent; heavy and clear; and Edguy proves to be a very good live band indeed. Sure, there are some slip-ups, but hey; this is a live album and not a polished studio album. Singer Tobias Sammet sounds like Michael Kiske in his good years and sings phenomenally. I have heard Edguy play live before and back then they didn’t really convince, but on this double live album they certainly do sound impressive. There’s of course the necessary sing-along stuff and guitar solos; and Sammet proves to be a good front man as the audience happily complies with all his wishes and sings along loudly.

My promo version is unfortunately shortened and has only 11 songs, so I can’t really give you a full picture of the whole album.

Nevertheless “Burning Down The Opera” promises to be an excellent live album for the diehard Edguy fans. If you are interested, here’s the full track list:
